I've been busy working on my new blog, helping my daughter getting her new home ready and finally stripping and painting my kitchen.
The year is already flying by!!
Well I promised all that I would post some before and after pics of the kitchen redo so here we go,
The kitchen had this old fashioned wall paper from maybe the 80's?? but I like the wood shelving across the top. I wanted to just bring this kitchen up to the current century without losing it's country charm.
see the green formica counter tops?(shudder) well they were going to have to stay becouse we just couldn't afford to replace them at this time.
ok so there is the before shots. I will now show you some of the work in progress....
UGH!!! I detest removeing wall paper. Sticky sloppy messy . I must say that the fabric softener trick works BEAUTIFULLY!!
Paper off and prepping for the next step. On this main wall I decided I wanted some texture,so I put up some paintable wallpaper. Yes,I did put up paper after just taking off paper ,what a nut eh?
This picture doesn't do it justice but it turned out really well. I used a slightly darker golden yellow on the textured wall and a brighter yellow on the rest of the walls.
For the backsplash I put that plastic that looks like metal look. It has made the green formica sooo much more bareable.
And this is a view of the table area.
That is all the pics I have for now. I am still putting some more finishing touches here and there but over all I am really happy with the way this project turned out. I am going to save for a new sink next. And someday maybe we will replace that old stove, but hey we have that home insurance that will replace it when it quits working . So I figgure we'll just wait for that day.
